IR1024 drum not rotating.

My first posting here and keeping my fingers crossed!

When the machine is running, the gear that couples with the drum turns normally but is not engaging with the drum. Its as if the spring that pushes the gear against the drum coupling is not strong enough, or the cam that pulls the gear away when the cover is opened isn't returning properly when the door is shut. The drum rotates reasonably easy when turned by hand.

This is an original drum unit with a katun drum and blade. I think this is the third new drum and blade in this unit.

you probably just need to pull the assembly off the back of the machine and clean all the excess dirt and grease off of the gear assembly that engages with the drum. It has been a while since I had to do this, but it is not uncommon.

I had the exact same issue with the Katun drums, the gear is slightly different. If you have the old drum cylinder fit it back & see if it turns.

The resolution for me was to fit a new genuine unit they're cheap enough!
