third party customer bought a 2030. the colors were faded. they demanded a second machine since i could not resolve the color issue. again not my machine. they replaced the bad machine with another that looks like its been in a warehouse for months. i think the company just threw new drums in it and delivered then left. they have almost the exact color issue as the old one. i checked and yes the drums are new, i pulled the laser, did the auto gradation adjustments, but have the same crappy color. after cleaning the laser there was a improvement in the copy quality but not much. any help would be great thanks. im going to upload the latest firmware if it is a older version. ran the pg10 with the cover off, the colors look just as bad on the ITB. switched ITB same result, changed transfer roller on door same result, recleaned the laser unit same result. I did the MCON/DCON clear no change. Im at a complete loss any ideas where to go next?

You pulled the laser out but did you actually clean INSIDE the unit?Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

Re: canon c2030 bad copy quality
Can you post a picture of the PG10.
The reason I'm asking is because on the 2 pages you show in the PDF the one at the top appears to be black tint that has some white lines in the second one is a different colour with blue and red lines in it, but there are no corresponding lines on the the two (i.e the lines in the top are not reproduced on the second page and visa versa)
If we assume that it is a fault common to all colors then we are on with:-
Laser unit (clean both inside and out)
ITB belt
2nd transfer
boards and cables
Also (might seem like a stupid question butit is a print that you have posted or a photocopy, many times i've had customers complain about quality of prints and upon arrival found that the image quality issue they are complaining about is due to the fact it is on the original. (I know it might sound like I'm treating you like an newbie but best to check before spending money on parts that are not required)

Re: canon c2030 bad copy quality
Who in their right mind would take the time to pull a laser unit and not clean the inside? i have met some lazy techs but it isn't even a 20 minute job to pull and properly clean those laser units.Comment

Re: canon c2030 bad copy quality
Some Tech's wouldn't want to run the risk of taking the lid off and damaging the optics, if they work for a service company then it's much easier for them to just replace the laser unit and forget about it, instead of trying to explain to the boss that they were cleaning the inside and their fat finger got caught and a mirror or the polygon and cracked it.Comment

Re: canon c2030 bad copy quality
Are they talking about prints or photocopies?
Are they definitely new drums? The 20 series drums do have a tendency to ghost image a bit. What does LF in service mode say?Comment

Re: canon c2030 bad copy quality
how are glass copies ??
internal color > on PG10 is ok / a little over saturated , black poor,
a little offset in main scan (front to rear )
Perform a REG-CLR in Service Mode, and then running a Auto Correct Color Mismatch & Full Auto Gradation > in that posted order

Oh, and if I go around ordering parts like there's no tomorrow instead of cleaninging them, my boss isn't so happy with me. At the end of the year there's supposed to be some money left from the contract...JohanComment

Re: canon c2030 bad copy quality
True and not true. Only once or twice did i have to clean the inside of the laser, and dozen of times just the glass on the outside, and a handfull of times the mylars in the compartment where stained. So i clean the outside and the mylars first. Only as a last resort do I open the laser. They are not supposed to get dust or toner inside. far less then ON the laserglass, they don't deliver a rod for the users with the printer for nothing...
