    ir5065 Wait

My customer says their ir5065 periodically says Wait when they want to make a copy. They say they put their original on the feeder and press Start, then the copier says Wait, they wait for about 45 seconds then it makes the copy....any ideas?

Sounds normal to me, the machine may have gone into sleep mode & is simply warming up or it could just be adding toner etc.

I had one like that about 5 years ago I never resolved. Try changing the sleep setting from what it is (high/low). The currant software is 57.02.01. They sent another tech out and he said he fixed it but they called back. I moved to another state before I was able to figure it out. We had some that never did that. I would try and update software first.

Found more stuff on the canon site. Check the staples as that message will come up also. Here is what one guy wrote:

This is normal for this series, the machine is performing a potential check. It's defaulted to once at power on, 10 min. and 60 min. thereafter (Normal Potential Control). You can change the frequency in Level 2 Copier/Option/Body/PO-CNTMD. If set to one, it'll be the same parameters as default but will be simplified potential control. You'll still get the "wait" message periodically, but it shouldn't last as long. Setting this to 0, it will only perform the check at power on.
        Hope this helps.

You could check that setting but if the software has not been updated that is always worth a try. I did not find many things software update fixed on that series. I have always wondered if the first time I saw that ever got fixed. Seems like it took a while to print also. You could tell the customer it may make it copy faster but may degrade copy quality. I used to have several high volume copiers of that series and I had a lot more problems than I do with the advanced series (but have plenty on the high volume ones).

Check the staples, I know how ludicrous it sounds, but Dan tweaked my memory. We had a machine that was "waiting" and turned out swapping cartridges worked. It's probably something else in your case, but I know it was the case once with me. Might be good to disconnect the finisher then see if there's any difference. That's how I got directed to the finisher.
