[Misc] IRc50xx IRc52xx Fuser rebuild info request

Hi Guy's,
hope you're all doing fine...

I've some questions about the 5000 and 5200 series fusers. On the 20xx/22xx and 2380/3580 series you just swapped the whole unit. On the 50xx and 52xx you need to rebuild them.

I haven't had to do this up to now, but recently we got back a 5030 with 400K on the counter and the fixingassy is at 173%. It's still working fine, so we intend to use it at our tech. department. As the fuser does not give any issues at the moment, we will not yet replace parts.

But if we would, what parts should we replace considering it's 173% life ? Or more in general, how do i know what part to replace when an issue occurs ?
I assume i'll have to reset the counter of replaced parts myself in servicemode ?

Apart from that, any hints, to-do's or NOT-to-do's from the guys who have been doing this frequently ?

Hi,

When I rebuild these fusers I replace the Fixing Film, Pressure Roller & Bearings.

When this unit fails you usually get an error code e.g E00001 etc or you may get a lot of jams in that area & also a groaning noise as the grease inside the fixing film drys out.

Hope this is of help.

You shouldn't need to replace any fuser parts till after 200% unless you are running a lot of thick/heavy paper.

The 22 series units are throw away units excluding a guide unit that you need to swap over, failing in doing this the device will print single sided but jam double sided.

The 52 series is a unit that requires parts replacing, the % guide tells you what parts to replace and do not use Katun sleeves as they fail and do more damage than good, but change the Upper film assy, press roller, lwr bearings and there isn't much more to change, I look after 267 22 & 52 series and the 52's have done over a million and by changing these parts they run forever. Go onto Sims and download the Canon Engineers Guide as there is loads of useful parts in there or hit me if you need any help.

Not just the fusers, drums also... 22 serie is better than the 20 serie, but its cheap sh.... On every call i stick some drums with me, just in case...

Go onto Sims and download the Canon Engineers Guide as there is loads of useful parts in there or hit me if you need any help.

I'm only Q for the 20 and 22 serie, so i can't get much on the 50 and 52 series. I gote the manuals and partscatalog frome here

For the 50xx i noted these parts to order if needed

FM3-5951-010 FILM ASSEMBLY
and/or
FC0-5061-000 ROLLER, PRESSURE
XG9-0172-000 2 BALL BEARING, NSK, 688AZZ1MC4E

and for the 52xx :
FM3-5951-010 FILM ASSEMBLY 230V
and/or
FC8-4906-000 ROLLER, PRESSURE
XG9-0172-000 BALL BEARING, NSK, 688AZZ1MC4E

You can only order the complete film ass'y from Canon, however you can buy just the compatible film from 3rd world countries but as mentioned above its not worth it, they don't last.

We`only order parts from canon, hardly ever from another supplier...

So the mentioned parts are the right ones, and the ones i will most prob. need when a fusers gives problems ?
