C 3480 series How to better document feeder performance.

I am trying to get this feeder to run better. Many times the paper is to blame but I am asking if there are any tweaks that we can make to get the separation performance to improve. I have installed the updated Feed Roller assembly and am changing Sep pads about every 6000 pages! Performance seems to be improved when using the high step under the sep pad. What else is there?

This was a common issue on these old models, something the customer has to put up with if they have poor originals.

This mod works really well, I used to do this with the rubber strip mod used on lower right hand door, after this part stopped being available, I found that old
feed tyres cut into strips worked perfectly well too. you end up with a sep pad with a large lump in it but it feeds everything!

Before I use something else. I think the strips have gone extinct. I do have some of the foam damper pads that sit under the feed roller assembly. I think squeezing two of these under pad could also work.

Them document feeders run great. Never issues. Make sure the black rubber dampers on the cover are in good shape...they get divots in them. Other than the spring on the clutch assembly break, never have issues with these feeders. They run great...

Yes, I keep those dampers in good shape. Im not bashing the machine really. Many of these copy jobs have been stapled previously and are from outside the office.

We dont do that at our shop. We just replace the whole sep pad unit. I took a couple FB5-9432 damper pads that go up above under the feed assembly and inserted them in. Just peel back the sep pad to the foam area and two fit perfect. I have one onsite for a few days now and no more than one complaints.
