    Canon IRC3480 install K drum

Working on a IRC3480 and the drum is worn causing a line. I installed OEM drum unit. It ran five days the started getting light prints popped a code E067-0102. Then gives message to install K drum unit. Reinstalled original drum unit and it runs fine. Ordered another OEM drum unit and when installed it gives install K drum unit. if i install original drum unit it runs fine except the line in print. Anyone else having issue with new units being defective? Any solutions out there?

This is a common issue on this series.

There is a firmware update for this fault. However cleaning the ITB contacts or replacing the unit always fixes the issue.

I seen this a couple times. Do yourself a favor and replace the Itb belt or assembly . It will save you a lot of black drums. When I see the replace the black drum message i replace Itb instead. As a rule of thumb I would also replace the cleaner assy. I also replace the 2nd transfer if it has > 500k.

      Hope this helps!

Like tonersniffer said, replace the ITB belt. That message will occur on any of the drum units, simple repair.
