    IR 1600 FIRMWARE

I got this out of a Canon IR 1600 service manual page online: Please go to the bottom to read my request.2.3 Installing the Firmware

To start downloading, you need to install the firmware in question to the Service Support
Tool; the individual pieces of firmware will be installed under the following names:
    Firmware Built into the Machine
    Model : iR1600
    Unit name
    Image processor PCB : System
    Finisher-L1
    Model name : Fin-L1
    Unit name
    Finisher controller PCB : CPU
The same firmware is used in common for the iR1600 and the iR2000. Be sure to select
the iR1600 when you are asked to select a model for the Service Support Tool for either of
    these models.

    2000
    CANON iR1600/iR2000 REV.1 JAN. 2002
    CHAPTER 14 VERSION UP
    14-7

Ok , so, what is the service support tool and how do I get it? And how do I get it to the machine to update it?
My customer keeps getting a ROM ERROR.
It resets by turning the machine on and off, but it sometimes takes 5 or 6 tries to be successful,
so I'm assuming I need to upgrade and/or reinstall their firmware.

Can anyone give me some help on this, as I have never upgraded firmware on a Canon before?
    thanks

    Re: IR 1600 FIRMWARE

It sounds like you have a failing controller board.

However on this old machine it could just need the system software re-flashing.

This is done, as you say, using the SST (a program that copies the software to the machine)

So In short you will need the SST & the latest IR1600 firmware.
