    IR3300 copy and printing problem

When I print/copy to the A4R Tray on a couple of iR3300s the pages print out fine. But when I print/copy to the normal A4 trays there is noticeable ink printed wrongly spanning the short side of the page at one end. Also every now and then when copying/printing a lot of pages these copiers tend to spit out the error E003-000 when all the pages have finished printing for seemingly no apparent reason. Scanning works fine so I think the problems must not be related to the ADF.

    "Ink"? in a copier?
There's your problem right there...some bugger's gone and put ink into your copier..!!!!
    Sorry...couldn't resist.
Your E0003 error code can be caused by the sub power supply.
Especially if they're in a rural area or an area that has a flakey power supply.
There's a mod that involves soldering in some extra resistors to stabilize the AC power...or you can order pre-modded power supplies from Canon.
As for the "INK" being left on the page...is it a solid band of toner...or does it look like a series of scratches?
It could be the drum, dev or DC controller pcb....it all depends on the appearance of the fault.

I meant toner not ink (oops)

Not in a rural area. Thanks for the tip about modded power supplies. I might have to have a look into that. Could the error E003 be caused from having too many devices plugged into the same electric switch (only the photocopier is connected into the power point it's used with).

It's more a solid band of toner, fainter than usual with perhaps some spots where it comes out a bit darker.

It has been a while (long while) since i have seen e003 on a 2200/3300. From memory i used to replace the DIMM to solve this issue. If your ROM is below about Version 10 you'll probably need to replace it,

From Memory there is more than one different ROM. Which one is it and where in service mode do I find out the version number? Or do I need to open the machine and check inside?

Edit: I believe that I can't find stuff under Copier - Display - Version showing version 10. I can check again tomorrow. Or is the version shown somewhere else.

Is there a way I can easily tell if the power supply has already been replaced with a modded one?

Sounds to me like you have a fixing film issue going on.

A e003 is a low fixing film temp problem in most cases replacing the UFR and going into service mode to clear the error takes care of it
