    Canon IR6000i scanning mechanism scrapes

    Dear friends.

I am new in this field and need your help.

My problems is in the scanning mechanism, what does this mean.

When I want to copy something on glass the scanner lamp began to scan/walk throw the glass to scan the original, the problem is that when the lamp back ward to it is "HOME" position something scrapes/scratch along the way back, it seems that it is a metal scratching.

can any body help me at this.

    Thanks in advanced.

The rails that the scanner sit on have gone dry.
TURN OFF THE POWER AND UNPLUG THE MACHINE(the scanrails are live).
Remove the end cover...remove the glass....apply grease to the side rails of the scan assembly.

Also...check the reflecting strip attatched to the optics...when customers place a heavy book on the glass and press down too hard whilst copying..it can actually bend this thin piece of metal.
