it is in English now, spanish appears greyed out.

Language must be the same version as firmware.Which version of firmware do you have? Also need service support tool.

but the files lack the spanish language, all files appearing are for IT (italian) DE (German) EN (eNGLISH) jp (Japanese) and FR (french),
I am wondering if this machine came without spanish as per se

Did you unzip all the laungauge filles in the language folder?

The 'es' language file is Spanish.
