[Error Code] Canon IPF 750 error code 03130031-2F2A

After powering on the printer it beeps and shows the hardware error code:
03130031-2F2A

i am then prompted to power the unit off and to turn it on again.

This happens repeatedly.

I recently tried to install a new print head but haven't gotten past this error code.
I read that it is some roller sensor error.

how can i remedy this?

2F2A is a Linefeed Error, maybe the Lubricant on the polished Metal Bar becomes sticky, causing the Carrier run too heavy. Clean thoroughly and lubricate with thin Oil, this should help.

Yes, it's the carriage rail, but be warned: bad things will happen if you oil the carriage rail. I learned the hard way. Ink will build up inside the carriage rail bushings binding the drive, and making a ringing sound every time it passes, and 86-01 errors.

If it has been oiled you may have to remove the carriage from the rail to properly clean the gunk from the carriage bushings. No oil ever. =^..^=

Probably. The bushings cannot really be cleaned properly unless you can reach inside.. =^..^=

But do I have to remove the rail to do that? Does that require disassembly of the unit?

Remove the service station, carriage belt, encoder strip, right side frame, remove the clips retaining the ribbon cables but do not disconnect the ribbon cables (the ends are easily damaged). Just pull an additional 1" of ribbon cable so that the carriage will slide off of the right end of the rail.

The rail stays attached. The carriage slides off of the end. No need to remove the carriage any further once it's off of the rails (ink tubes can remain attached). Clean everything thoroughly in alcohol. No lubricant.

Re-assemble in reverse. There is a red line on the ribbon cables to get them back in the original position, or just look at the ink stains on the back of the ribbon cable protector. =^..^=

You must restart ipf in service mode to master reset the error, hold down the load and navigate buttons, then power on the printer, still holding down these buttons, you will see an S on the upper right hand of the screen, this indicates printer in service mode and you should see a flashing yellow light too, then release the buttons and the ipf should come to ready. If it errors again, this code is what you should troubleshoot first. If no errors try to print a nozzle print from the service mode screen. If that works then reboot the ipf normally and if its happy it will come to ready. Get some alcohol and clean that carriage rail with a cloth.
