    C3080 E020-0013

Replaced full set of drums (due to poor cq and high drum life count) and now the machine is giving an E020-0013. If I put the old black drum in, copier works fine. Should I just presume this new black drum is bad or is there something else I should check. Manual mentions clean/reseat/replace the ATR sensor but wouldn't that be an issue even with the old drum too?

I believe a firmware upgrade and possibly a ITB will correct this, been a few years since I had this issue.

Transfer belt, over the years, when installing new Black drums only, will get insert black drum or code pertaining to Transfer belt issue. So, probably if you reinstall old black drum, it will be ok.

Yes there was a firmware update for this issue, you may also need to replace the ITB.

However if you want a "instant solution" swap the old & new drum chips, this way you can "fool" the machine into thinking it still has the old drum when in fact you have fitted the new one!

What copier tech said. Just needed to do that on IRC 5250, installed new drum from Katun, started with errors, nothing pertaining to drums/TB, replaced the chip with the old drum chip, has worked fine now for 2+ months. Copy quality is beautiful.

had this happen a lot on the IRC20xx series, Clean laser and contacts, if that fails swap the chip. Issue on the IRC20xx is intermittent, some drums give an error, next drum just works fine out-of-the-box....

Technician went back out and cleaned the laser and everything really good, there was a lot of toner mess inside copier, everything seems fine now. Thanks for all the help!

So... you installed all the drums because you had poor copy quality? And, you didn't clean the machine first? Or did I read your post wrong? Just wondering.
