Canon ir adv 8105 dadf tray does not lift

    Hi
Today my dadf stopped working and the tray does not lift... First I got a error 407-0001. Checked the motor and it's ok. If I manually lift the motor my turning the gear the tray lifts and when I turn on the machine the tray goes down but does not lift. Even the paper sensor does not turn on. Little help needed....

Check the sensor in the tray. Should get a green light when you push down on that sensor. Just had one on a C7065 where tray would not lift, intermittently (more not than lift). Motor turned, may be a one way gear in the gear train. We had another adf so I just swapped it. Wire inside wire harness known to break. Have had people push the flag out of place for the paper present sensor. The e407 says the tray did not lift. I would look at the flag/sensor in the tray first. On mine I tried another tray with harness first, but I was getting green light and motor was turning.

Had this once, lift doc tray up and look to the back of the tray, should see a white gear. Mine was cracked. Otherwise it could be a crimped wire or sensor. Check the white gear first though.

          Hi
checked the sensor.... light does not get turned on but on screen the finisher button gets highlighted.
Is there anyway to turn the motor on and off from the service mode...
I even checked the gears. All the gears are fine. could it be the motor?
          regards

Try changing the wire harness to the tray or move it around. You need the green light when a piece of paper is in the tray. I think the grey wires are smaller and purple bigger new style. Could be sensor but I doubt it.

I would be stuck trying to find out why the green light did not come on when the paper present sensor was pushed. On mine I did not figure it out but mine was turning the motor, green light coming on, and occasionally would lift. I looked and did not see where you could turn on m8 lift motor. sr13 (tray home position sensor), lift motor and main board dadf driver pcb all have to be good. The error code you had says the motor turned on but tray home position sensor did not change state.

There were a few tech pubs saying the springs were missing from the pick up roller assembly.

Has the error condition been resolved? If the device is still in error mode the sensor will never light. There are service modes under FEEDER to try various operations, check under feeder>function> and use the info key.
See if the device is still in error mode, check error history first.

                      Hi
Mine error is gone but motor does not lift.
If I lift the motor manual by gear the tray lifts.
And when I switch on the machine the tray goes down to it's home position..
                      Cant figure out the problem.

                        Hi
I checked everything and on service mode motor is running and even the sensor. Could it be the PCB board?

If those checks are correct then that would likely be the next thing. Those tests seem to rule out any wiring issue or component fault.

If the components check out then the controller PCB would be the next step.
