I do not think you can check the board. You can go into input and output and check if the sensor changes state. I do believe you must have the green light when a piece of paper is in the tray for it to be able to lift.

That is SR1 original sensor
Service mode, copier>I/o adf feeder P001 to P007 ---P002 bit 1 should be 1 when flag pushed (original present) and 0 with no original.

I think to get that to lift it has to know there is a piece of paper in tray and green light on top of adf should be green. If that is not working I would guess, bad sensor, bad wiring to board or bad board. I have had people knock the flag out so it was not making the sensor.

make sure the tray sensor is connected sometimes when we put it back together the connection get pulled off
