    Adv4045 Finisher trouble

Customer has Inner D-1 finisher on their Adv4045 copier. Recently is started jamming a lot but not every copy, Jam Code 1C40 and also throws E-540-0005. We thought it was the sensor on the tray (stack sensor?) so we swapped the sensor from the top exit tray (they weren't using) to the bottom exit tray and it seemed to work......for a few days anyway. Now jamming again with both codes. Any suggestions before we go back out?

You could try the cable to the top tray. If they can live without the top tray I suggest removing it. That top tray is the majority of my service calls. Seems like the new style gripper works fine.

Is there something else we need to do when we remove the top tray. We are getting an E542 now. Nevermind, got it, missed that small pcb.

E540 0005 02 Title Tray Lift Motor clock error (Inner Finisher)
Description At initial rotation, when the Tray Lift Motor rotates and clock
input is not detected within the specified period of time, it is
detected as an error if the same symptom occurs again after
        the first retr .
Remedy 1. Check if the Motor (M11) Connector is physically removed.
        2. Check if the Motor failure occurs.
        3. Check if the Stack Tray Clock Sensor (S14) Connector is
        physically removed.
        4. Check if the Stack Tray Clock Sensor (S14) failure occurs.

E542 0001 02 Title Additional Tray Lift Motor timeout error
Description Unable to complete the operation even after the specified

Looks like the error has migrated from the original tray to the top one. Have you swapped out any parts from one tray to the other? That would be the first thing to consider and check.
