Almost case no boot up because Ram is bad contact. Take out all RAM and BOOTROM below HDD, clean all RAM and also clean socket.
If HDD is bad , it should display E602 on control panel
If can't solve, check Power Supply unit, any blow out component

This is what I mean, did you just copy-paste DJ_beirut's text or are you DJ_beirut under another account ? The text and issue are 100% the same.

If you would like to help i would greatly appreciate that and even pay if the solution is found. If not please don't hijack the thread.
I bought this machine and bought alot of parts for it and it has cost me more than it should and yet canon is not interested in sending a service guy. so i really want to figure it out and fix it. Please.

The disk spins up and works fine. i was able to ghost it. but i what i am thinking is if the disk is disconnected it should boot up with an error message that says the hdd is disconnected right? that is not happening.

2380i is over 8 years old, here in Holland it's quite impossible to get parts for it.
you might try and buy an old extra 2380i for close to nothing, it's save you the hassle of looking for spareparts in the future.

Yeah it has been a nightmare. I have not been able to find a main board anywhere here in Europe.
I am not going to buy a new machine i would still try to fix it. it is a challenge now more than anything else.
Have a C2020i that we are using in the meantime. but want to fix the 2380i still.

if you know of a place that sells used main boards please let me know.

I did that and it did not help. That's why i am "almost" convinced it's the main board.
Still looking for a place that sells those though

Hytec Dealer Services sells them... they also offer a Repair/Return service, but not sure if they serve Europe or not.

I'm from europe also, we where unable to get any parts for it so all contracts on the 2380i where discontinued. Machines have ben taken back and are long and gone towards scrapheap.

Might have been able to help you otherwise. But my thought was 'buy and old 2380i, since their practicaly all out of service they hardly cost anything, and use it as a donor. If you could find someone who has a mainboard on the shelf, he will charge as much as you would pay for an obsolete 2380i...

Yeah i think that is my only option as i can't seem to find anyone with parts for it here in spain.
