We have an imageRUNNER Advance C3530i copier that someone installed a cyan remanufactured toner cartridge in. After printing a few pages we noticed it had some cyan streaks on the pages. The copier repair company came and said the toner damaged the copier. They replaced all 4 of the developer units and installed new toner cartridge. They said they had to clean out all the damaged toner. Is it possible that bad toner would have caused all 4 developer units to have to be replaced? Has anyone ever seen this before?

However if there was only compatible cyan toner fitted I would only expect the cyan dev unit & possibly drum to need repacing not the remaining colour dev units.Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

Re: imageRUNNER compatible toner damage
I would also take a good hard look at the transfer belt, cleaning blade and transfer roller as well. Some aftermarket toner is so abrasive, it'll wear those parts out too.Comment

Re: imageRUNNER compatible toner damage
U probably got ripped off with having to replace the other 3 units.
Pays to always get a second option,
By the way, if u had a service contract, that would be a violation of agreement using third-party.
Agree that the ITB and some other parts could have been effected.**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment
