    IR3380i- Problem with Paper Size

    Hello All,
I am working on an IR3380i. It does not have A4 setting in the cassette tray (maybe because it is 110V). My alternative is to use the bypass tray. However, when I try it gives me the message on the attached. It further does not allow a copy of any size through the bypass. I tried redefining a custom size on the CP but it does not respond and always comes with the same message. The option for adjusting the standard functions is not active.

Image content: "Registered size differs from guide width. Adjust guide width or check the(Stack Bypass Standard Settings) under Additional Functions.

Could someone be of some help? I appreciate any effort.

Paper size setting not in tray----

u need to set the size configuration switch for A4
then set Paper Size on Dial

    see pic below

    Cassette Paper Size Set Up.jpg
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    in Service Mode Level 1

    COPIER>FUNCTION>CST

    The basic value can be fine-tuned by performing COPIER> ADJUST > CST-ADJ > MF-A4R, MFA6R
    or MF-A4.
    Operation method
    1) Place A4R size paper in the manual feeder, and set the size guide to the A4R width.
    2) In this service mode, select 'MF-A4R' to display the item in reverse. Press the OK key to perform automatic adjustment
    and register the value.
    3) Repeat Steps 1) and 2) to register the basic values for the A6R and A4 sizes.

Thanks for the reply. But one thing is that A4, A4R and A3 sizes do not appear on the cassette dial at all. I think I will now have to focus on the SM settings for the bypass when I get there.

both cassettes are missing the Label on Dial ?????

on the wheel u see no label ???

then someone removed it or dis-guarded it

Easy Fix--------------when u wrap label around dial-it positions dial to correct paper size---there is a point on dial where u start wrapping the label
the slider pushings in for paper size

        FC5-0503-020 LABEL, CASSETTE SIZE, DIAL

        FC5-1423-000 SLIDER, CONVERT

        parts will fit both cassettes

The original label is there. Just that there are Letter, Legal, U1 and others around it. Then there are blank areas that does not contain any labels. Those empty areas do not correspond to A3, A4 or A4R if I set them. This is the 5th of IR3380i I am handling. Even now, one is with me here with same cassette dial. I intend to replace the dial with one having the required paper sizes. I will then go through the earlier suggestions, Thanks very much for the pain buddy!

From my experience, all 110V I have handled for this machine does not contain A4, A4R and A3. I am looking round to see if a 220V's cassette can possible actuate them, so I buy for the customer. Thanks very much for the pain buddy!

I have worked on Hundreds of 110v c3380 printers----never seen where u can't set up A size in cassettes.

The DADF also has AB System Adjustment and Inch Adjustments

            Paper size cassette 1 = B4, A4, B5, LGL, LTR, EXE, A4R, B5R, LTRR, A5R. STMTR,

            Paper size cassette 2 = A3, B4, A4, B5, LGL, LTR, EXE, LDR, A4R, B5R, LTRR, A5R, STMTR, 11x17 to 12x18

            manual feed tray = A3, B4, A4, B5, LDR, LGL, LTR, A4R, B5R, LTRR, A5R, STMTR,11x17 to 12x18, EXE,
            postcard, envelope, free size

Paper size switch-over cassette 1/2 = by the user
Manual feed tray = by the user

            Cassette Paper Sizes Adj.jpg
            - SW4 is used to detect the state of the AB/Inch-configuration switch.
            - As for the blank (no-cassette), even if inserting the cassette to this point to match the dial, it is regarded that the cassette is not inserted, resulting in no execution
of controls such as lifter uprising operation.
            - The machine will assume the absence of a cassette if it detects a combination not found in the table. At this time, it does not move up the cassette lifter.Since
the paper size is not identified, there will be no indication of a paper size on the control panel; when the cassette in question is selected, the machine will indicate
a message prompting the supply of paper.
            - As for different terms of size descriptions, such as 12X 18, switch the indication according to the location that the machine is set in service mode.

When your order a new paper cassette it does not come with the label so most likely this has had a new one.

(I take the old dial off & fit to the new cassette)

When you open cassette, you see a small switch. That switches formats between EU and US.
I'm not sure if this switch is on this model too.

I spent time to go and apply the suggestions(including the attachments). But looking closely, it appears impossible to find the location to readjust to AB/Inch as it appears in the attachment. It appears this one is totally different from the one suggested, as shown in the attached (sorry for the number. I wanted to show the entire circumference).
All of these ones I have worked on was imported from Canada. I'm so grateful for every effort.

TAPE IS NOT LINED UP CORRECTLY
have done this procedure hundreds of times

Does the tape have AB SIZES , ?
I believe they ship two strips with cassettes
One AB SIZES & One AB SIZES.

                        Have to check parts catalog.

There should be a small raised protrusion on dial where u start the tape edge to wrap around dial.

U then move the switch over to AB

We could never order cassettes, they are considered a Sales Item by Canon USA.
Full Service Customer had to call Sales representative, or Non Contract had to call Canon direct.
