Canon iPF780 With M40 Scanner "offline" also max scan DPI?

This thing comes with the SmartWorks software. I cannot seem to figure out why 99% of the time the AIO controller shows offline...

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this:
It needs the scanner and/or program restarted in order for SmartWorks to show online. When if it comes out of hibernate (weak RAM/HDD so I set it up that way--boot up time is a resource hog--takes probably 10 min to fully boot after login) it says online, but when you hit the go button it asks to insert something to scan. So again restarting everything resolves this.

This is flat annoying...

Also I was told by a tech that the machine was acquired from that the scanner has the capability to scan at much higher resolutions than what SmartWorks can handle (1200dpi). Does anyone know how to achieve this? I have a very specific reason for asking such an absurd question.

Turn off SNMP on the print driver. I've had IPFs that drop offline and won't wake up until rebooted. Turning off SNMP resolves it usually

I don't think this especially applies to your situation but I'll include it anyway.

Occasionally on an iPF, I see that the printer or scanner is offline. Most iPF's have a print server with a shared print driver, and the scanner and printer are connected via USB. If it's not connected this way, the local IT has been at work on your machine.

Since the print server very rarely gets re-booted, I've see the USB ports go dormant from lack of use. Just re-booting the PC brings it back. =^..^=

Well this package (I installed at the beginning of the year) uses the iPF almost as a "dongle" for the print controller to even be able to use the scanner program.

I think wasn't very clear, printing to the iFP is not an issue, this is relegated to using the controller to scan.

I think part of the issue is that I cannot disable the auto-off feature on the iFP (as far as I can see)--the only options are 4, 8 and 12 hours auto-shutdown.

I feel the need to not feign ignorance here, large format printers are not my forte (albeit, generally easy to work on).

As an aside, if you run into this particular package you must disable the windows installer service and more importantly Windows Defender (that turd was taking up 10% memory and consistently 20% CPU on the controller).

I do not see this in the print driver (or in the printer options).

It's under port settings...with the correct port selected, hit configure port. You will see SNMP on the left near the bottom. Disable it

Devices and Printers folder.... Right click the device- Printer Properties> Ports> Configure Port. Uncheck the SNMP status box and click OK> OK.

Haven't logged in for a few weeks...
Believe it or not, I actually knew that (simply loosing my marbles).

This was already disabled on the several client computers with the drives installed will defalut settigns. The Print controller itself did indeed have SNMP selected the moment I turned this off the printer showed online. Didn't really have time to test much past that, but looking promising.
