I have an iPF750 that says paper jam during paper loading. The rolled paper exits the machine, backs up a little and the stops, then the print head goes over the right side of the paper then back in the purge unit and does this three times and then the 750 states that there is a jam, can anyone tell me why the paper would back up a little and stop? Im pretty sure that is what is causing my jam. I work on very little wide formats so detailed explanations would be greatly appreciated.

are you loading the proper paper?
it could be the paper load sensor ( not sure what canon calls it.. but similar probs on Epson with failed sensors)
what is the jams numeric code ? -
Re: IPF750 says paper jam when loading
I'm not too familiar with running sensor tests on wide formats, but I did go to service mode and attempt a GAP ADJ but then I got a 03130031-2F14. This problem recently started after changing the printhead. I did load the proper paper in and made sure the the sensors on the right side of the machine were cleaned. It never throws up a numeric code, it just loads the paper then pulls it back (never cutting it) and then the print head moves over the right side of the paper 3 times and displays that there is a paper jam. On an Epson where is the paper load sensor it may be around the same errorComment

but on the Epson products after PH installation you had to manually gap the printhead.
PH replacement was not a "drop in " process about 1.5hrs after you have done 2-3. then you had the adjustments .. registration... alignment .. clearing counters etc.Comment

Re: IPF750 says paper jam when loading
You can check the output of the multi-sensor in Service Mode > Function > Optical Sensor Output > "NO" right arrow to "YES" > Output2: 000803013 255200 > Output3: 5180160018 31200. The numbers in red are some possible bad readings. I started recording the multi-sensor outputs from functioning machines to try to determine which value indicate a typical failure. If you post all the output values I'll check them against the spreadsheet.
There are three sensors in that unit, each can fail. Once you've changed the parts, run the gap adjustment again, preferably with the bright paper recommended.
=^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: IPF750 says paper jam when loading
You're on the right track, Phil. HP's call it the paper edge sensor. On Canon iPF's it's called a multi-sensor (QM3-5831-000) and white reference (QL2-6891-000). But its exactly what you're talking about. Watch for "!Paper jam. Push release lever back.", 03010000-2E27, 03060100-2E02, and when attempting gap adjustment 03130031-260E.

Until you got to PH and some adjustments. Then is was really time consuming.

Epson is the closest to an actual lifetime printhead, true? =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

Re: IPF750 says paper jam when loading
PH warranty 3 yrs. *xtended avail option*
from what I have seen in field miles n miles n miles of paper most of the 'newer' models, 5 years most times if kept up.
cold print tech as apposed to the HP / Brother lines ..doesn't wear out the port film as quickComment

my multi-sensor output values for output 2 and 3 are as follows, respectively: {508508000 23250; 520520000 53250}. I also took down the rest and I'll place those below in case one looks off to you.

Soooooo ... I think its safe to say that you have a bad multi-sensor.
And thank you for contributing data to my spreadsheet. =^..^=Last edited by blackcat4866; 10-29-2019, 01:34 AM.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
