Re: Canon IR C5235 - start network failed after firmware update.
I just read the CDS notifications ... and you are right .... Firmware updated was not an upgrade, but a downgrade , I think ...
First CDS mail:
Distribution confirmed information of firmware has been sent to the following device.
Device Serial Number: WGR09261
Firmware Group Name: iAC5255_US
Firmware Group Version: 20120903.0121201
Firmware Information: iAC5255
Firmware Label: iAC5255v121201_US
Distribution Method: Distribution par lots
Timing to Apply: Manuel
Additional Languages:
Followed by...
- Distribution to the following device was started.
- Update to the following device was started.
- Distribution to the following device is complete.
Please update firmware.
And two hours later:
- A timeout occurred while updating firmware of the following device.
I do not know how this was possible because I'm sure to read 201912 about the new firmware version...Comment

Re: Canon IR C5235 - start network failed after firmware update.
I tried everything... I thought about new MAC address in the network card after f/w update ( conflict with the arp cache), and thus, I changed IP address, but ping from the copier failed.
The copier detect the cable link, but nothing else. Get IP from DHCP server failed, new IP failed ... unable to communicate with the network.
I think the problem is inside the copier ( internal conflict between network config files after the f/w update )Comment

Re: Canon IR C5235 - start network failed after firmware update.
you would have to get the signature version of the year 2012 and format the hdd using the service mode or the hdd format option when you install the firmware using pendrive.
the other would be to get another hard drive from canon irac 5235 so you can test if the problem persistsComment

Try creating a USB firmware flash drive in the SST ensuring you have the latest firmware version installed & reboot off this that should work.

Re: Canon IR C5235 - start network failed after firmware update.
Start Fresh
Initializing All Data/Settings
If this mode is performed, the following data stored in the machine are completely erased. It is not normally necessary to use this mode, but it is useful to erase personal or confidential information when returning or disposing of the machine.
Data stored in mail boxes
Data stored in Fax/I-Fax Inbox (Confidential Fax Inbox/Memory RX Inbox)
Address data stored in the Address Book
Scan settings registered for the Sending function
[Favorite Settings] registered for the Copy, Store/Access Files, and Send functions
MEAP applications and license files
Data saved from MEAP applications
The password for the SMS (Service Management Service) login service of MEAP
(If you changed the password, it returns to the default password.)
User authentication information registered in the Local Device Authentication system of User Authentication
Unsent documents (reserved documents and documents set in the Delayed Send mode)
Job history
Settings/Registration settings
Registered forwarding settings
Key Pair and Server Certificate registered in [Certificate Settings] in [Device Management] in [Management Settings] (Settings/Registration)
(:-(
IMPORTANT
Before initiating the Initialize All Data/Settings mode, make sure that the data you are erasing is completely unnecessary.
Note that Canon will not be liable for any damages resulting from the loss of data.
If the Copy Card Reader-F1 is attached to the machine, and does not operate properly after initializing the data, contact your local authorized Canon dealer.
To prevent other users from accidentally erasing all the data in the memory, it is recommended that you set an administrator.
Confirm that there are no current jobs being processed before using the Initialize All Data/Settings mode.
Backup or export any necessary data before erasing the data in the machine. You can backup or export the following data:
Data you can backup using the Remote UI
Mail box settings, stored files in the mail box (For information on backing up data, see "Backing Up Stored Data.")
Data you can export using the Remote UI
(Depending on the MEAP application, you may be able to backup this data. For more information, see the manual for the MEAP application you are using.)
License files for MEAP applications
(For information on downloading license files, see "Managing Application Licenses.")
User authentication information registered in the Local Device Authentication system of User Authentication
(For information on exporting authentication information, see "Managing User Information.")
Settings which can be sent using the Device Information Distribution mode
(Can only be backed up if you have another machine with the Device Information Distribution mode. It is not necessary to back up this data if you want to use the data already registered in the other machine. For more information on the Device Information Distribution mode, see "Specifying Device Information Distribution Settings.")
Data saved from MEAP applications
(Depending on the MEAP application, you may be able to back up this data. For more information, see the manual for the MEAP application you are using.)
After initializing data, the Initialize All Data/Settings Report is automatically printed to confirm initialization. Use the report to check the following items.
Serial Number
The serial number of the machine is printed.
Device Name
The device name of the machine is printed.
Overwrite Method for Deletion Mode
The deleted contents and deletion mode are printed.
NOTE:
The Initialize All Data/Settings Report is printed in English only.
Although the job logs are deleted when the Initialize All Data/Setting mode is performed, the log which shows the Initialize All Data/Settings Report has been printed appears in [Job Log].**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment
