C5030 cannot get a decent print out of it!

    Hi all,
I have a second hand C5030 and we have it connected and set up OK, but I cannot get a decent black and white print out of it.
The contrast levels seem way off.

The black is deep black, it is not faded - but text is really over-exposed and lines are bleached out - see attached picture

I have tried adjusting contrast on print settings (on computer) and it helps a little bit but not fixed it.
I have also taken the toner out and shaken it and done auto adjust on gradation, self-cleaned machine etc.

    Thanks for any advice!

    nothing attached

print out config sheet and upload here.

you didn't give us anything to work with here.

are you using OEM Genuine Canon supplies?

what are the life counts on fuser/drums/belt?

is the unit clean (not self clean but inside)?

      Hi Phil, thanks for reply.

      Ive attached the config report.
      Yes all genuine canon parts
yes clean inside all drawers and rollers etc.

I'm not sure on the life of the parts - how would I find that? I have the print counters but don't know when the parts were replaced.

You seems to not understanding what will affect black color appearance.
        1. How you can be sure that parts inside are OEM?
        2. Cleaning paper trays, rolls and covers means almost nothing regarding problem you claimed.
Most important to get decent black prinouts are using OEM toner and developer within its life, but may be many, many more.
Find some solid black fills, print them and sent example here.

wonder if they looked in user manual for:

          cleaning laser slit..

          does it happen on copies?

tweaking density indicates to me, at least, either the drum and or dev unit is towards EOL.

forgot to mention: look around for the service log (usually in pouch on back or under a cover in the front lid.

sounds like an end user/owner we are dealing with, trying to save some $$$ on a second hand unit.

Totally agree on this Phil. Usually I can accept some endusers coming here asking for some free hints, but they should at least deserved our time either by contributing to CTN or by some proper description and minimum information.

Its a second hand copier, a bit like buying a second hand car you cant expect it to run like new unless you've had a mechanic or in this case a copier engineer to service for you?

However has it been in storage for a while? (again like a car) if so run say 200 prints off & see if the quality improves.
