    Canon iPF minimum print volume

I've got a lot of Canon iPF's 610 > 850 that are underused, requiring premature head replacements. Sometimes codes, sometimes poor color fill.

Just recently it was an iPF780 getting its third printhead this year ... averaging 1.67 ft2 per day, or approximately one Arch E1 print per week. Personally I think that if they printed at least one Arch E1 document with all the colors each week, the printhead could stay clear. I think it's the lapses of three weeks or more that dry up the head. Per the print log this customer prints (5) Arch D documents at the beginning of the month then does nothing the rest of the month.

Can you recommend a minimum paper volume or minimum ink usage (ml) to keep the printhead viable? Or maybe a minimum print interval? I want to recommend something, but so far all I know is what is unsuccessful.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

have them do the color tests from panel before they leave for the day..

also.. Epson's didn't like being setup under an AC vent.. damn sales people selling a product liike this to a onesi twosi type office. It'll always come back on we techs.

      Thanks Phil.

We've got an iPF-8000 that gets demo'ed perhaps three times each year. Each time it needs new print heads, a maintenance cartridge and a couple cartridges of ink to get it printing again. That's a cost of $1000 per demo and it's still not sold. We'd be better off if just gave it away. =^..^=

with Epson.. if a 'demo' machine is sold by the dealer, the dealer can get another LIKE unit for the same "demo dealer" price.

He sold them as 'new' even tho the machine had gone thru one set of FULL inks (starters use most of the ink to init the system)

we had a few savvy customers that busted him on it after delivery, I told him I thought that wasn't even in the 'grey' area that he claimed...

just ONE of the reasons i had to fire him.

seriously I really don't know how that fucker slept at night... I could NEVER pull HALF the stunts that asshole pulled on me.. other employees.. customers AND his wife! ( found out he had some side pussy in Asheville, which he ALWAYS stayed overnight at... hmmm wonder WHY? )

IF you try my Simple Green trick you MIGHT be able to revive those "failed" PH's. Worked on ANY brand Ink based life formed I tried it on.

with the canons just leave them in sleep mode .. they will wake up every couple days to do a minor head clean and nozzle test
