I would return the hard drive. They are supposed to have firmware loaded on them.

And be sure to tell them that you needed it loaded with the firmware / system software.

When I was purchasing it, they specifically told me (in chat, on two separate occasions) that it would be a new HDD with no Canon products loaded, so I can't really in good conscience try to return it.

On the bright side though, I was able to purchase the SST/Firmware from Printer & Copier Firmware - www.printerfirmware.co.uk and load it up on the HDD, so my imageRunner 2230 is back to life and working fine now.

Good job on that. I lost a few customers because of that e602 and not having access to the firmware. Good job!
