    Canon ImageRUNNER2525 - Can't install drivers on Windows 10

I am having trouble installing drivers for a Canon IR2525. I am pulling the drivers from the Canon USA website support page for the IR2525.

When I attempt to install via USB connection, the connection is never recognized, despite the fact that the computer recognizes the device when I plug it in.

Anyone else have this trouble or have any ideas about what I can try?

Drivers? they go on the PC used to print to the copier.

    what driver did you install?

why didn't you just download to PC and install from there?

I attempted to install the Generic Plus UFRII v2.20 Setup Installer for Windows from this link: Canon U.S.A., Inc. | imageRUNNER 2525

During that installation, you have the option to setup the printer through network or USB connection. It is during the USB setup that the setup is not recognizing the USB connection with the printer, despite the computer recognizing it in the control panel.

are you following directions from the manual?

you are using a USB stick to install the drivers on a PC?

        is the cable connected?

please explain your steps in ORDER of operation.

The directions from the manual say to connect the machine the the PC with a USB cable, which I have done. The computer is recognizing the device.

Then you must download and install the drivers while the machine is still connected to the PC.

When I download and install these drivers, there is a point during the installation when the setup itself has to recognize the machine through the USB connection.

At this point, the setup fails to recognize that the machine is connected to the PC. It suggests unplugging the machine and restarting it and the plugging it back in, but when I do this, it still does not recognize the machine.

There seems to be no way to install the drivers without this connection, since the Canon drivers are not machine specific.

When you plug the copier in what does Windows see it as, unknown device or does it recognise it as a printer?

Go to printers & devices right click the printer choose update driver then have disk point it to the folder where you downloaded the driver.

Or just choose choose the driver from the Windows list. (Generic Canon should work)

I have noticed on 2525s and 1730s(flash drives,no HDD), you cannot use the new Generic Plus Driver with Windows 10. Use the old UFRII driver 30.40. Discovered this a while back when they launched the new driver
