[Misc] "The feeder needs to be checked"

    Hi all,

I have a Canon IR C5535i that had a faulty DF Driver PCB. After replacement the machine says " The feeder needs to be checked, contact your service rep." and locks down the ADF. Looked at all the error clears in FUNCTION-MODE but nothing related to the ADF.

    Any ideas appreciated.

    Thanks

please check: Management settings > device management > limited functions mode

      other check: SORTER>OPTION>MD-SPRTN > 0

he says Feeder needs to be checked, not the finisher? I saw this once, when i was cleaning the duplex scan glass, which is under the pull down platten glass cover, i was cleaning the glass and it moves back and forth, i still to this day dont know what exactly i did but that message came up after i finished cleaning. I fiddled around with the glass again and rebooted the machine and the message went away. I know one tech who had this and to this day could never get it sorted. Canon didnt know of it either! Sorry best i can help you with

I just had this happen to a 5540 (gen II) yesterday. It also had an error in the history that referred to the DADF scanner not able to set the white level. Because it was in a very dirty environment, I pulled the scanner from the DADF and cleaned it really well, but it still didn't clear the message. I even tried to set the white level, but it immediately failed without even trying to feed the test page into the doc feed.
I looked at the firmware, and it was a few levels behind, so I upgraded it to see what would happen. After the firmware upgrade, it came to ready with the doc feed fully functional, and it let me do the full white level adjustment. If you ever see this message, definitely try the firmware first.
