PIXMA MG2920 ink absorption count reset-PLEASE!

I have exhausted trying to get any help from Canon, you guys are my last resort. Probably should have come here first!
I went though all the dirty steps needed to clean the ink pads spotless. Much to my surprise it is even more difficult to get the printer to work now because in all of Canons genius (or merchandising) I cannot reset the error code 5b00 without a service tool. Of course Canon says they don't support this printer anymore and the SStool I found online is corrupt. Can anyone help me so I haven't played in the goop for not? I need a Canon Service Tool v.4502 or v.4720 or any other advise that will get my printer reset. Possibly a eeprom pin to ground for reset, providing it doesn't remove the firmware, I'm not scared to get into it!
I just don't see throwing away a good piece of equipment for this problem.

They keep it for them and will charge you cost of new one
I don't do Canons and may be wrong but tool is kinda married with PC(Hardware) so it's not so easy.

I have the utilities that came with the printer but no SStool to reset. They should have included it for us techy guys that fix their own stuff! But like you said,,,they wouldn't be able to milk us!,,,If they aren't going to support it anymore they should give those that still are using them the means to fix it!

      Any help out there?

Indeed it's. Those type of devices are either "throw away" or "milk cow" type. That's why we don't recommend them to anyone.

Yeah, I get the throw away gig but there isn't anything wrong with the printer now...just needs a code reset. Since you worked on them do you have the SST?

nope those files stayed with the asshole dealer i worked for.

like a lot of brands, even IF a certain tech is qualified, the dealership has the rights to all files the tech has obtained.

like my tech id number stayed with him.

clearly you don't get the idea of COPYRIGHT violations.

from the forum rules ( you might want to revisit them if you haven't done so.) https://www.copytechnet.com/forums/misc.php?do=vsarules

ANY tech reported for sharing copy written can 1) be fined by Canon 2) can lose their Tech ID 3) the dealership for said tech can lose their DEALERSHIP.

YOU nor ANY OTHER enduser is worth that to me.... be a man.. hire someone to fix your shit.

Can anybody else weigh in with a solution? EEprom reset or other sources, etc...

                        Phil,
I don't know what your angst is with.... but someone wanting to repair their own equipment shouldn't be any concern of yours. Maybe you should read the rules and ask the moderator to give you a redcard. I never ask anyone to do anything illegal. If the SST are not available-so be it, I was not a service tech privy to the Canon SST rules. How about a eeprom reset or something else? Is asking for that so bad to gain your angst? You have quite the reputation...don't ruin it over calling me out.
