      Canon is not making them anymore, and the people with them are not letting them go

          For that very reason, I finally broke down and got an ibm t41 laptop last week on ebay. Parallel port is on it and gonna save me a lot of trouble, I hope.

            Keep in mind if you have i models such as iR3300i,3320i,5020i,6020i, those models can be upgraded thru fixed IP. Later models such as iR5000, iR5000s,iR5000d require that USB to Parallel Interface Cable (item # FY9-4154-000 to upgrade firmware. Not to sure about the card thing though? Also the nethawk driver is not compatible with Vista's OS. Good luck trying to find that cable.

                Looks legitable!
                I don't see why it would't work.

                  The only stumbling block will be whether the Nethawk driver recognizes it and therefore whether or not SST will accept it.

                    Have you tired the one at Cables To Go. Do not know if it will work, I will have to get a laptop without a parallel port and try it.

                        have you thought of a docking station too

                        I have had guys bring there docking station to flash machines with the para ell to centronics. Also the bigger hard drives WM2-3240-000 require later SST tool version 4.X I believe for the 2200 series.

                        let me know ET

                          Hi Oze,
                          The adapter shown in the previous post looks like it might be the ticket,
                          and if an IEEE1284 cable is used with that adapter, you will not have to
                          worry about any nethawk driver. It looks promising! Hope someone will
                          keep us posted.

                            Hi cdvidaceiba,

                            The reason you only have the centronics and ethernet options in SST,
                            is because you don't have the nethawk driver loaded. I assume that the
                            driver will not work properly with anything but the actual nethawk cable.
