    Canon GP200s

The customer reports a message that says "prepare a new drum". I have not been on site as of yet but does this make any sense? I have a manual but can find no reference to this message or any reset in the service mode.

    Update

This is precisely the message on the display. Nothing in the service mode lets me reset. I emptied the waste toner thinking that might be it. ????

I assume you've check the figures?
Has the drum done it's life?
Don't forget to reset the AE if you replace the drum or you'll be back there in a week because their copies have gone light.

Two conditions can cause this message to appear, the waste toner and the current it takes to charge the drum. The prudent approach is to replace the drum. I have emptied the waste toner and run the machine and all seems to be well. They invariably lead to a callback for the same message. The normal wear on the drum surface causes the charging system to run harder to achieve the same level of charge. When it gets into end-of-life for the drum, it signals this to you with the message.

          my 2 cents worth...
