Hello, I am a Tech but not an expert on the Canon models. For the IR 3235G, I am being asked when the hard drive is replaced do you have to install the system software back on it? And if so, how much is involved. Could anyone direct me? With Ricoh this is not necessary, but I'm not sure how Canon handle this. Thanks.

Re: Canon IR 3235 software installation for new HDD
Yes when you install a new hard drive you have to load the System software on the drive. Not just any hard drive will work, so it must be the same type or one approved by Canon.
You must have the Service Support Tool as well as the System software. You need to run the SST and register the software with it. You can then connect the computer to the copier and upload the software. There are steps in the service manual for the machine.
Or you can order a drive already loaded with software from a vendor like Hytec.Last edited by kuby; 04-13-2021, 08:07 PM. -

Best way to ensure you get the correct drive compatible with Canon is order the same identical one.
