    advance 400IF thinks it's copying/printing but.........

customer said that after he put in a drum it stopped printing.
i get there looked at drum...it's new the shipping stuff was removed DV unit looked fine put it back together. then he told me when he runs a print job it goes threw but when he goes to get the print nothing there's nothing there.. love it when they tell you oh by the way it's doing this too. anyways I'm still at the machine so i go to make a copy and the machine goes threw the motions but it's not cycling no paper is moving but it thinks it made a copy and goes back to ready.. turn it off and back on it does cycle however and come to ready. but takes forever to come to ready. same problem.
the owner had left.. so i was able to ask the girls in the office, they said it has been getting slower over time i did a mmi clear that didn't help. no error codes. called nation wide Sean never heard of this he looked in knowledge base for me there's nothing.
he thinks it's the main board. but i don't want to shot gun parts at this machine. has anyone ever run into this?
    Thanks.

Can you print internal prints ? What is the job log showing? If you havent already done it update the firmware.

I had a Canon iR-3030 years back at a credit union, that the enduser saw me changing the drum last time, and thought that: "I don't need no stinking technician."

So he changes the next one himself. I get the call the same afternoon, for blank copies. He had ripped four of the wires out of the developing unit connector ... then tucked them in so you couldn't see it. I got a kick out of that. Like I wouldn't notice. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I've seen strange ones because of faulty Fax board, not on Canon's though...
