there is no adj in service mode.. first clean sensors above a itb on the right side of machine.. .check connection on the sensors .. if that does not work the remove itb belt asm then the belt and clean the itb drive rollers on the inside of the unit.. if that still does not work replace the itb belt and clening blade asm..this machine self adj color reg..
Kwaz is bang on ... It is simply the belt slipping.. Usually caused by excess toner getting between it and the drive roller ... Drums with high volume can drop toner and cause this even though the quality is ok.....
This issue is more than just excess toner at times, other causes are lasers, DC-controller,firmware. Try clearing DC-CON and put back the values for dc con.
Once again screw is right. Had blurred image after doing all mechanical stuff. Canon said clear dcon. Worked like a champ. Cams on back of drum units out of sync. There is a way to start them close to position in tech pub or service man

Another physical thing to check/replace, is the drive gear on the ITB drive roller, the cluster & driven gear on the copier itself. A little play in the ITB gear sets up the same scenario as the dirty belt and rollers. Just played with one this morning....
