    Canon MF6580 Network Setup Help.

Hi all, I just have another long day with Canon MF6580 Network Setup. Hope your guy can help me out. I been setup Network for many Canon copiers. But this model is the first time.

Well, I did intall all the driver for PC, input IP for copier, hood up the RJ45. I was ping from PC and it regcornize the copier. I even can pull up "Remote UI" in internet explore by the copier's IP.

So, it should be good to go. But I can't print any thing? I thought I might installed wrong driver. But after double check with the Canon Website I'm sure that I have the correct driver.

If I switch to USB then it print ok. What am I missing? Please help. Thanks

This looks like the iMAGEClass counterpart to the iR1023. On those we can only print to them using PCL if the optional PCL PrintKit is installed. Otherwise you may be able to use the UFRII driver to print to it. The RUI works because all newer Canon copiers that have the RJ45 jack allow it to hook up to a network, so that you can utilize RUI to administer the copier. But PCL is only possible after the upgrade.

I already try all the drivers, PCL, PS3, UFRII. None of their drivers are working? Even I when to properties of each driver and check "Device status" under "device settings" tap and it regcornize the copier.
Anyway, how do you check if this copier upgrade to PCL or not? Thanks

May not be a lot of help, but if you go to

        Canon imageCLASS MF6580

You will have access to all the right info. It is like a cartridge iR1023iF - but it includes PCL support. Guess my process would be to uninstall all the drivers you tried, make sure they are gone, then reboot. Then use the CD that came with the system (or download from the above site).

If you still have a problem, just for sh**s and grins, go in try turning off USB support. Seems to me many sleeps ago the sys sw for the 1023 supported just USB or UFR (as in you had to have USB off to use UFR). Current sys sw has fixed the problem - but you firmware may be behind.

FIGURE THE ODDS: Within minutes of my above post, we had a guy bring a MF6550 he bought at Staples in. Guess they told him it was out of warranty and could not be repaired. Issue is the same DOWNLOAD STANDBY the initial 1023's had. No problem right? Just reload sys sw - but NOOOOOOO, we are not an "authorized" imageclass service center so they (CANON) will not let us get the sys sw. Of course Canon will fix it for them, at over $800 plus shipping. Just venting but damn, just shoot my other foot Canon.

Hi Costd, I did everything you say already. This is a brand new copier and it came with CD. First I installed with the CD and it regcornize the copier through setup. But it can't print then I download driver from Canon site and it still can't print then I disable USB and it doesn't help.

            what about the cable itself?
are you connecting it to a hub or directly to your PC?
If direct, you have to use a crossover cable instead.

Hi imaginGuru, The Copier is connect though the router and I'm using Cat5 cable not crossover cable. Also, I did try 3 RJ45 cable to make sure its not the cable. But no luck! Thanks

I thought of this the other day, and forgot to ask,,, I have not had this device open in RUI before, so I can't know for sure if it supports Direct Print, it is normally listed in the left hand column. If it does, did you try to use the Direct Print function in RUI to print a file, say .pdf or .jpg? Since RUI is only supported throught the ethernet connection, it would establish whether the copier can print through that port, without needing a driver to negotiate the connection, which RUI has already performed.
