Canon DR G1100 -how to remove eject tray

Hey anyone know how to remove the eject tray on one of these? (the plastic cover over the pickup that hinges up and down)?

I need to change the pickup assembly. I can see the screws for the front cover hidden under that top plastic where the scanned paper lands. It has a two screws in the front but looks like it's all one piece with the hinges. egads, cannot figure out how to get that off. The manual says this below but cannot get that eject tray off.

    1. Pickup Unit

    â—†procedures were changed

    â—†shapes of parts were changed

    1) Remove the eject tray unit.

    2) Remove the upper front cover.

    3) Remove the ultrasonic sensor PCB.

If I remember correctly, the side covers must come off to reveal the screws that secure the tray. It's been a little while since I've worked on one of these.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

oh wow ok, the manual I have just says remove that tray, then the top front cover. Does this mean you have to remove that whole big assembly or just the plastic cover over it? When I hinge it up, I can see the sides of that assembly. There are just two screws towards the front, but then it's attached in the back, the plastic seems to 'be' part of the hinges.
