[CQ] iAC5235i - Black came out blurry only when printing in color

Hello everyone,

I'm encountering this weird-to-me problem : Whenever the customer print a color invoice, the black comes out blurry. But the same invoice print as b&w only is perfect..
So the black is blurry only when printing in color.

It's on a refurbish iAC5235i with BK:22.600 & CL:55.400 prints and so far :

• drums are all news,
• tried on a news BK developer
• tried a working ITB (including the cleaning parts)
• my brain hurts

(all the above are oem, not working with shitty 3rd party parts)

And the problem is still here
Does anyone know why the black is coming out as blurry only when printing in color ?!
What this goddam printer use when you print in color but not in bk ?

I've seen something similar to that in really dry environments where the toner spreads out on the paper after transfer from the drum/ITB. The fact that it only happens on black and only when running color is very confusing. Have you tried stopping the machine and looking at the image on the drum before it transfers to the ITB? Also look at the image on the ITB before it transfers to the paper. That might help to narrow down where the problem is during the process.

I did not think about stopping the machine during the print cycle, I'll try that monday
Also the weather here is really humid, it cause a lot of jamming / cq issue, but that one is surely a first

With Black Copier,use only black toner. With Color copier, black images were created by mixing C,M,Y toner.

Try going to driver- Printing Preferent- Quality -..

It sounds like the black is using process black(c+y+m) as opposed to spot black(uses black toner). If it is printing process black, you probably have a color registration issue. Run Auto Correct color Mismatch under Maintenance/Adjustments. If it fails or it corrects it, you may have a slipping itb, dirty patch reader, laser issue. Make sure firmware is upgraded

With Black Copier,use only black toner. With Color copier, black images were created by mixing C,M,Y toner.

Try going to driver- Printing Preferent- Quality -..

When set to color: it uses C,M,Y and K on these. Black transfer roller is always engaged for B/W or Color.

Print a pg test grid to see if all 4 colors are aligned, could be a drum unit not seated properly
