Canon ir not printing

Greetings from Cameroon. I just had this second hand ir3300 and tried connecting it via networking but it did it print, tried a parallel cable still couldn't print. I have tried various drivers but it still doesn't print apart fro jusk picking paper from the tray and printing some funny love and other characters at the top of the sheet.
Please I do need a detailed way on how to make it print normally.

Can you ping the device & open the RUI (device web page?)

Print was an optional extra on these old IR 3300 series.

Check the device configuration page see if it has the PCL option & N boot rom.

Which print driver are you using?

I would try the UFR drivers.

Also, under your network connection settings, do you see AppleTalk and IPX/SPX?

If you don’t, there is no print option installed, and no printing will happen.

Note that TCP/IP will be present with or without a print option.

I also agree with the boot ROM type. If it’s a “C” type, no print for you.It must be an “N”.

Don’t forget, back when that machine was current, there were tons of them sold that were “copy only” versions.

[Greetings. I can not pi g the device cause I don't know his abd as for the configuration page, I can't have a print since it doesn't print. Could you help me with any procedures to follow to ping the device or have a configuration page?
Note.b any prix time g command I send from my computer prints out with some characters (symbols) at the top of the page and the rest of the paper is just blank

I guess you don't have any networking skills?

On the copier go to network settings & turn on DHCP.

Plug a LAN cable from the copier to your switch / router.

Go back to the copier network settings & take note of the IP address it obtained.

Greetings. my printer is of the N type and i have the apple talk under network settings. as for the UFR driver, i haven't tried that but would do so. What surprises me is that , it get to pick papers hen i send commands but only prints some funny characters at the top and the rest of the page appears blank

thanks for this, i got to print the page from the machine itself, but still can't get the machine to print from the computer.

uninstall old driver, and install new compatible driver

You still haven't told us which driver youy are using. Please do that.

The gibberish you are seeing when it prints is most likely the result of the wrong or corrupted driver.

ATTENTION - A no print symptom on this machine can be a result of a flakey HDD with no other symptom. If everything else is correct, you can try format and reload but it may not work. Have had to replace the HDD for this ( no print problem ) a couple of times.

Looks like Europe CA and India have print drivers posted too. Use official Canon driver. Support | Support - Multifunction | imageRUNNER 3300 | Canon USA
