Canon IR c3800 series - How to i do sensor tests in Service Mode ?

    Hi fellow Engineers!

wondering if any Canon techies can help me out?
on older models the sensor test always seemed to of been in SITUATION TAB / then TROUBLESHOOTING TAB sensor test. But on the these 3800s its not there. We have become a Canon dealer on top of 6 other manufactures
I have looked in the service manual that also states it is in Situation tab but it is not?

last time i worked on Canons was the GP range i remember you could find sensor tests elsewhere in service mode but its lost me

any help would be very much appreciated as Canons seem to be flying out the door to customers and will soon come in with the faults. not figured out motor tests yet

    thanks
    Ben

In service mode go to Function, Parts-Chk.

If all else fails read the Service Manual!

If that fails, meet me at the pub and we will discuss it.

looked in there today. i can find motor check and motor on. also solenoid tests but not sensors.
Noticed a lot listed is abbreviations. Presume sensor should be something like SNR ?

you can in theory check the sensors in the I/0 in service mode but Canon has mentioned to not rely on it anymore.
There should indeed be a sensor check in situation mode - it might be a bit hidden? it should be on the second page on it's own as sensor check

I find if there are any jams the jam codes will have the sensors in the info along with a diagram where the sensor is. (service mode>copier>Display>jam) highlight the jam and click the i info button at the bottom of the screen.

error codes are similar; it will mention what's what in that info button so you don't have to look it up unless its non typical, multiple error codes, or a weird issue due to the customer...

            Hi Ben,

When you open a window in the service mode and you don't know what the items mean you can touch the green ball, at the bottom of that screen, with the I in it for information. it will open up an explanation next to the item.
