    iR 1435 ADF jamming

Not so much jamming but it is difficult to unjam. I feel this should be simple, I have over 30 years experience, mostly on Canon, but this little POS has got me stumped.

When the ADF jams, the only way to clear the jam is to power cycle the machine. The ADF is really simple on this machine. There is no ADF controller. There is 1 motor, one solenoid and 2 sensors. The 2 sensors are document and document end sensor. In this case, the machine will attempt to feed a sheet of paper even if the ADF is lifted up. Which tells me the machine isnt reading the DF open/close sensor, which would explain the inability to clear a jam.

The question is: what tells the machine that the DF is open? Where is the DF open\close sensor?

The reader assembly does not have original size sensors or platen cover open/close sensors.

I believe have you simply have to remove the paper from the doc feeder tray so the copier doesn't see any paper and you have to open and close the feeder cover assembly to reset the jam?

In the ready state, if you open the document cover(that has the pickup/feed roll assembly on it), does machine tell you to close it?
