Canon IR c range - Can you do force toner in service mode like a Ricoh?

Hi, we have recently bevome a Canon dealer.

We have a fault on a c257 a4 . Black toner undetected. We have tried a new toner bottle and new drum/dev unit still get the fault.
I have discovered in service mode under COPIER/ DISPLAY/ DENS that black td sensor % is not changing. So im thinking i might have blockage or dodgy hopper unit?

On a Ricoh you can force toner to spin the toner bottleva few times and check td sensor % change. Or run the toner bottle motor.

Can you run force toner on Canons??? And how ???
Or could i run the toner bottle motor

Any help would be great before i return to the customer and have to strip the back of the machine to death to get to see the hopper and toner run to drum/dev unit

    Thanks

When you fitted the new toner bottle did you hear the machine run & try to add toner etc ? or do you simply have the message that the bottle isn't fitted / missing ?

No you can't do a forced toner supply on Canon.

      Hi Copier Tech,

thanks for your reply - now i know you cant force toner.

i have had the top paper exit lid off the machine. the bottle turns about 4 times and then throws up the error. i can run toner bottle drive motor in service mode too. All that behaves. but i have noticed the Toner density % has not moved up or down on the dev tank. so im going to have to strip and get at the hopper and black toner run to dev/drum

      thanks

What do you mean by "undetected"
          Is the black color printed?
Any errors like 20xx or 25xx?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

            OEM toner I hope.
            yeah, probably not the motor.
            error code?
I'm assuming you've also tested all the other motors as well in service mode.
Any mess at the back of the copier where the backend of the dev sits?
