    Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5535i

    Hi Everybody

Need your experienced opinion about a strange problem I saw this morning. The machine works like this:

    - Everything is fine when printing from PC or printing internal pages (counter, etc).

    - When trying to do a copy or a scantomail or any other job that requires the scanner, the device firstly asks the original format (A4, A3 etc). Once specified you can see the message "scanning in progress" but nothing happens.
The printer hangs and does nothing even when you try to delete the job.
Restarting the printer is the only way to have it ready again.
I tried to disconnect the ADF but the problem is still the same so it doesn't look to be the cause.

I tried to check the CCD in service mode and it seems to be ok. I mean that it passes all the calibrations available.
My suspect is that there could be a problem on the scanner control board but I'm not so experienced on this particular model and would like to read you opinion.
Thank you very much to everyone who will give me an answer and apologize my bad english.

    Forgot a detail

No error reported in the Error Log.
Only #852 (The power was turned OFF while the job was being executed) caused by the power reset of the printer.

    Thanks

I think the most common reason is the flat cable between the Reader Scanner Unit and the Reader Controller PCB.

does it ask for the original format even when going through the doc feeder? I believe that shouldn't be affect by the scanner.

does the scanner move at all when opening/closing the doc feeder or on boot up?

Check the I/0 and other settings in service mode -if you just have 0s where the reader controller PCB settings should be then that could be the issue.

No errors in the job log or no errors at all in the error log in service mode? Several errors months apart could indicate something failing.

Update Firmware just in case it's corrupt data.

Sometimes these sort of issues are caused by a failing HDD since scanning copies to the hard disk.

I would replace / format the HDD & reinstall the system software.

Your fault is: printing without outputting any jobs while sending data!

This situation seems to be caused by abnormal data in the storage box. Have you installed printing monitoring software?

              1. Use a laptop to directly connect to the printer to determine if the output is normal? If there is an abnormal situation, it is necessary to perform an initialization attempt on the machine's data.

Does the machine have an image printing processing board installed on the ICC printing server? If so, it should be caused by a malfunction in the ICC printing memory.
