This has been an intermittent issue on a new 3 month old new scanner with about 132k scanned images
Color scans leaves a striped greenish blue bars in the image with the same black/gray pattern around it where there shouldn't be anything.
A similar thing happens with grayscale and B&W. Resolution doesn't matter, single and double sided do the same thing.
It is weird that the 8.5x11 sheet is scanned with extra "stuff" around it.
The customer will usually have to power cycle the scanner a number of times to get it to scan correctly, then it works flawless.
I have updated the scanner to the latest firmware on Canon's support site along with installing the latest twain drivers.
This happens from the Kofax software they use and also in a CaptureOnTouch app that was installed. It is connected via USB.
Anybody ever seen this before? I am leaning towards hardware problems, but don't want to rule anything out.
Attached is a snip of PDF's saved from the scanning software.
