First thing, why do you want to flash the imagepass?
Second, are you having a problem with the imagepass?
Third, when you try installing firmware at what point does the process fail?

If you could answer these minor details, it would help narrow down the where the problem might be; HDD, memory or the motherboard. Are you using a crossover cable?

Hope to hear from you soon,

    Screwtape.

      Image pass

      Thanks for the reply:
The print jobs are not getting to the copier, and normally when this happens I have to flash the Image pass and have IT put the copier back on the network to get it working. When installing the software with V1.2 the status bar gets stuck on 1 of 3 on the first disk. When i try to use V2.0 the status bar does not load at all, I will check to make sure that the crossover cable is not decetive thank you for you help.

I assume you are talking about the H1? I believe you can use any SATA hard drive of equal capacity. There is no table of acceptable drives to pick from like in the copiers. I also suggest you use the USB thumbdrive system load procedure, it eliminates the network hassles. Also their is a pub out about system loading problems,, there are more than one motherboard models being used in this device.

I loaded one up yesterday, using a USB thumbdrive, and the default way of doing it involves leaving the bit switches in the down position. My machine would not take the software, so I had to try the alternate mode of bit 1 up, and bit 2 down. It loaded fine then.

It sounds like a issue i had with the same H1 imagepass. The way you expain the process and how it fails sound like dimm chip is bad (memory). Why don't you try poping in a 256mb stick and try sending a job, im sure you can get a memory stick from somewhere. All the configurations will still be there if you try this first, they would be no need to setup the network. If this doesn't work then here is the part number for the HD:
            FM2-8258-000-HDD, HDS728080PLAT20HDD.

h1 rip will take ANY sata drive , i've fitted a 2.5 sata to one when in a remote location I think it was 120gb(only 1 in the shop)

when running the fiery loader make sure your firewall is turned off - also i have found that when running said program when it ask's you what network connection if the ip address has'nt yet been discovered( ip 0.0.0.0) it seem to work consistently using that - without the usual fall out half way through - can't work out why , but hey...

                  Image pass

I read your post, I had a similar problem what I ended up doing was place your computer or laptop that your using for the download set the ip address for the laptop to get an ip add automatic on the Image pass dont worry once you set the switches it will connect automatically also since this is a new image pass with a 1g ethernet card you can use a regular patch cable or a crossover both will work.

                  Hector.

Did you try the memory chip?
This is a lot cheaper than that HDD.
The feeling that comes along when you replace the HD and load up firmware and the process fails, DAM!
Hope it works for you, good luck.

                            Working

Guys I am happy to say that I was able to flash both the Image Passes, but embraced to say that it was as simple and setting my laptop to automatic IP Address. So I thank you guys for all you efforts and your help, glad to say that once again you guys got me out of a jam. I am servicing over 80 Copiers mostly IRC 5185 and a few IR 7095s with no tech support so I rely on you guys for your help every chance I get. So you guys keep up the good work and have a great day until I return with my next issue lol.

                              Wierd Fiery fix I found

                              Hello all

Which type of image pass H1, j1, s1, s2 etc. I had the same problem and for the life of me I cannot figure out why this was the fix. I call canon and reported the issue also and the fix.

I had an H1 that would not take a system software up-load of any version of the system software after a continuous "please wait < check cable" etc it would only load the first 2 files from version 2.0 1. the ftp/tftp file and then the boot file, it would then reboot and hang during the config file upload then an installation failed after a period of time.

Here is what I did and it worked. I simply took the battery off the H1 fiery main board and left it off during the upload. The board actually receives power from the copier during the copier boot and the battery is only there for time stamp etc.

re-uped version 2.0 and then put the battery back in and it now works like a charm.

Or it could simply be a bad HDD

I had also tried a new HDD and memory chip and they did not correct the issue.
