toner can mist in the machine and cover the patch sensor. sensor then displays incorrect values. that will need to be cleaned.
also check the life counters of the devs. These can be what cause the toner mist to be in the machine. If they are old they can go off and cause this type of problem.
Jarwil just gave you the correct remedy.i had the same problem sometime back and what i did was to replace the dev units.The lifespun of the devs is 40,000 copies.
