iR2200 - didn't upgrade LANG-ENG

Uh...it was a long struggle to the end of the day and once I FINALLY did a complete format of the drive and reinstalled the ALL-HDD version of System Software the machine works fine.
BUT...I noticed that the LANG-ENG went from version 40.06 to ---.---. Oops. What are the repurcussions of this lack of thoroughness?? They kicked me out before I could make time to fix it.

Unless they actually use RUI, I wouldn't worry about it.

It really should be upgraded fully with all files. But that my two cents of a thought.

Something strange going on there...

I noticed that the LANG-ENG went from version 40.06 to ---.---. Oops.

What you may want to do is reregister your software in SST. It looks like you have either missing files, corrupt files, or a corrupt ALL_HDF .ift file. Did it make any mention of the language file during the load? You can also edit the .ift files to get rid of foreign language mentions for all the components. I do this to cut down on the verbage I see in the SST while loading files.

Initially I tried to update with ALL through the network port. I made the stupid mistake of not unplugging the fax line and the machine received a job during the update. Update failed part way and I had to power cycle the machine since it wouldn't respond any other way. Then it would power up, recycle and come up in 'download mode' by itself - so I found the only way I could get it to accept anything was to do a complete HDD format (which took almost 40 minutes) through parallel on a workstation (no parallel download on Vista laptop). After that I loaded the ALL_HDF but had no LANG-ENG notifications or otherwise when it finished. I don't know if the file was screwed up or not, just glad it finally worked again. I'm not a pro at this process, just have muddled my way through it a few times with general success. Any tips are more than welcome!

This is an old machine so using a parallel cable or a nethawk cable (canon usb-to-parallel cable, part # mentioned by Screwtape in another thread) is probably a good idea. And having a computer with XP on it is also good. You may want to consider dual-booting XP and Vista, using XP for old copiers like the 2200.

The ALL_HDF file may be called something like:
iR2200N-ALL_HDF-XXen4501-DEFIJ.ift

The N is for Networked, and the DEJIF refers to five different languages that the file is setup to load.

With this example if all you want is English you can delete the lines that refer to French etc. in the file. You can edit this file in Notepad.

NB: although this file may refer to five different languages you may well only have the file for one of the languages. So SST will probably report that it can't find the file to upload for the other languages if the lines referring to them remain in the file.

Then register this edited file in SST after deregistering the one you have at the moment.

If a component fails to load then try loading it manually.
