    IR600 with error code E-218

    Hi...
    When I turn on the machine, and I press the on/off button on the panel, the machine started, and after few seconds, appear E-218 error code. I replaced the fluorescent lamp, the light intensity control pcb, the lamp heather and the dc controller pcb, but the problem persist. What can I do?

      Just a thought...

      Old analog equipment used to get a break in the power cable that went back and forth with the scan carriage,, maybe look for a break in that cable?

          E218 Means, there is 24 and 38 volts that are missing somewhere.

          Did this just happen right out of the blue..
          Does it error out as soon as you power it on.
          Does the lamp come on now since you replaced it'd?
          Was the lamp coming on before you replaced it'd?

          Has anyone try remove the control panel?

          There is a 5-pin yellow wiring harness behind the front cover below the control panel that is for an Options Counter PCB. If there is no Option Counter PCB, this wire just hangs loose in the machine. The harness was pinched in between the frame of the machine and the bracket for the control panel causing a short. This could be a problem if a tech is not careful when replacing or reinstalling the control panel.

          There is an empty 9 pin wire harness that is located under the Control Panel and is wire tied above the fans. This 9 pin wire harness can get pinched behind the center Control Panel mounting bracket. This also could be a problem if a tech is not careful when replacing or reinstalling the control panel.

          Other pcbs,etc to check are:
          1.DC power supply
          2.Relay
          3.Clutches
          4.Power supply

              Fren, most properly cause by the power supply pcb, or you can try to re solder the contact point
