There has been a similar issue regarding an IR105 posted recently.

It's possible that the drum cleaning assembly having problems is also the cause in an ir5000.

Take a look in the thread I linked to. The IR5000 is around the same age as the IR105 and it's highly likely that they're similar machines and share some of the same problems.

There is a thread on the blank LCD issue for the IR5000: http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ca...ir-5000-a.html

Try the things mentioned there such as reseating and if that fails replacing memory and replacing DC PCB.

Usually a blank screen on the 5000 is the Dimm. Try reseatting the Dimm and the boot rom.
Is the glass half full or half empty? I say neither. The glass is obviously full, full of potential. The potential to hold more water or the potential to quench a thirst. Life is all about how you see it.

I agree. Why don't you swap the bootrom and dimm chips from the other machine. First try the bootrom if that don't work try the dimm. If both don't resolve the issue you might a bad main controller.

Agree. Worst case scenario for the boot-rom is that the boot-rom is dead and it needs to be replaced. If so be sure to get one of the same type e.g. if the dead one is a C version get a C version etc, that is unless you want to network it. I've seen network kits starting at around $100USD including postage on ebay so if worst comes to worst and you have to replace the boot rom it's not too bad.

Just to give you the a heads up the 5000s requires two bootroms, one to boot up the machine and the extra one is the one that gets flashed when you start updating. This unit has the older main controller.
