Printer Board IR600 can't print - REPOST

This is a repost for oketee. The occassional problem where a thread comes up in a read-only print version has reoccurred.

Hi all, I have some problem about printer board IR600. It can't print. When I print it, it show "wait" and reboot... (But can print config.) I tried to reinstall and change Ram. It doesn't work.

My answer: Re-install firmware on the pdl board using the PDL downloader. You will need to hook up to the parallel port on the PDL board to load the PDL firmware.

Can also try reloading copier firmware on hdd or replacing hdd and installing firmware onto that. Note you will need to use sst and the normal parallel port (not the PDL one) to install copier firmware.

Someone may have the pdl downloader and firmware. Use bi-centronics IEEE1284 parallel cable.

I used PDL downloader to re-install. But it doesn't work. When i print it reboot...i don't know why? May be my board broke.

have you run this from a laptop with crossover cable-im thinking ip issue.also have u tried all clear-dccon mncon and mmi.

where you able to complete reinstall using pdl. Did you put the machine in install mode before initiating pdl install.

I ve had similar problems but was fixed after reinstall.

i met a case like you did but on IR 400, luckly within 1 year, I ordered a free print card.

The IR600 is a really, really old machine and thus while you can use a crossover cable to test printing it can't be used to install firmware.

The 600 firmware ain't going to do jack. You need the EFI firmware. Good luck trying to find that.

Changing the HDD of the printer board may fix the problem. I have some if you want.

Things to do before changing hard disk or install software.

The ir400,600 printer setup menu have built in feature to clear off problem that you mention. It is :
(1).Clear server.
(2).Restore factroy setting.

Normally apply the (1) will solve you problem.
If cannot solve, apply function(2).
If still not good after these 2 steps, then consider download software or chang hard disk.
