    irc3200 roller MELTED?!?!

Has anyone ever had the Internal delivery roller thats next to the fuser assembly melt? its just a metal rod with 6 rubber rollers on it. the outside ones are fine but the center ones are melted and squishy now that they have cooled.

Just curious if anyone has run across this before and could it be the beginning of a fuser meltdown??

Yeah. Thats a fairly common issue with those machines. It doesn't necessarily mean the fuser is going to have a meltdown. The part number to replace is FB6-4862.

Just to confirm again, yes. That happens as the machines get older. The heat just breaks down the rubber.

Rollers in middle go soft first due to heat

And how much fun is it when the roller completely melts all through the delivery door...

hi guys ....yes i experienced this case of melted fusers...especialy in the old analogue models i guess the reason is the malfunction with thermal fuse or thermostat does not regulate the temperture of the upper heating roller but the exit roller melting it is usually happens with the sharp sf 1016 that old analogue copiers but we do the modification...
i wish you good luck guys

i have this problem, the melted roller indicates that overheating occured and i got E004-003. Replaced the fixing assembly but it won't solve the problem. Replace the DC-CON will fix the problem.

I have run into this from time to time, and I do not believe it is temp related. The roller just breaks down in time. When you are servicing the machine, especially in the fuser area, simply give the roller a squeeze to check it's condition. I don't know why, but the rollers in the center of the shaft asm seem to get squishy before the ones on either end. As Oze has eluded to,, if you let this condition go to long, the roller gets all gooey and paper will track it through the entire exit asm,,, not a fun thing to clean up I can assure you. Been there, done that!

And just to show that Canon rarely learn from their mistakes on the irC6800 series there's a black rubber roller inside the delivery assembly that does exactly the same thing...melts over a period of time and if you catch it too late the melted rubber tracks right through the entire delivery assembly AND into the finisher itself...good way to waste 3 hours I can tell you
