Canon Color Imagerunner C5180 Fuser issue

A search for "Rebuilding fusers assy for Canon 5180" brought me to this site. Is there information and parts available to rebuild the fuser (or 'fixing assembly) for this machine, as replacements seem to cost around $2000?

hi,it all depends on wots wrong with it-if it has a ripped film there is nothing u can do but it could be a broken gear issue it is worth stripping it down just to see if it is just a gear.

      5180 fuser issue

The machine is demanding the fuser be replaced before it will do any work. There is no damage to the unit, but the last we looked, the clicks on the finisher were pretty high, so I suspect it is just calling for a periodic replacement, as it's likely past it's recommended usable life. We can't double check it's percentage of usable life, but it won't boot past or around the error message.

It won't either. The error code needs to be released in service mode.
There may be a problem with the unit-this model does not trip an error based on metre count. It is expensive, but best to have a tech inspect the old unit or replace. It's not simple to replace, an untrained hand could cause more issues. What error code? E007?

          Canon 5180 fuser

Seems like you're right. Machine looks/sounds good until you ask it to print/copy anything, the it offers the "E000007-0201" code and demands to be shut-down. Menu won't let us go around- bypass secquence fails to do anything.
We are, however, comfortable working on this. The Canon techs used to leave us spare drums/fusers/etc., to save them trips out here for 'minor' problems.

The origional question was: Is there rebuilding materials available for these fuser/fixing assemblies?

E0007-0201 is an issue with the pressure belt displacement motor or sensor.
E0007-0101 is the fixing belt motor or sensor.
You could try fitting a lower belt displacement assembly and see how that goes?
Takes about 5 mins to fit.

                Error code

Thanks for the input!! Obviously, I'm not a tech, just the owner.
I don't know if it matters, but there are five zeros between the "E" and the "7". I know with part numbers on some machines, each place holder is important.

Your better off replacing the fuser unit.
No dealer would want to try to rebuild a fuser unit for a couple of bucks. They would rather the customer buy the fuser ass'y.

It will benefit your more to spend the money, these fuser ass'y are always revised. There are coded with a color dot. What ever color dot your fuser unit has, this determines which version you have.

When a brand new fuser unit is replaced with a latest version, its recommended that the main unit be upgraded with the latest firmware.

You're most likely right, but at two grand a pop, I have to explore options.
