    Canon ir330 E0005 web error

Customer does not want to pay me to replace web but will pay for reset. I told him if I could do it he would be taking a chance with his fuser unit. He says he is buying another machine. Can e0005 be reset without changing web. I tried but seem to be locked out of service mode. Tried * 28simu * but machine did not enter service mode.Frank

If you flip over the web, you can reset the web counter. But this is only a very short term fix. Your heat roller will be ruined quickly.

Honestly, do you really need an account that won't pay for a $35 web. What a tremendous waste of time for you and the customer.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Flip the web and charge the customer for the service call...see if he'd rather pay for the call or for the web..lol

Thanks for the info guys. I did a service call on this customers' machine about 6 weeks ago and he needed a drum. I charged him $275 which included service call and mini pm.
So now he doesn't want to pay another $150 to change web but offered $85 to reset. I will see if he will meet me halfway as I would rather change it + avoid a problem later. His claim of getting another machine seemed a little odd in lieu of his buying drum recently. Frank

            Only servicemode clear.

The only thing to be made is servicemode clear.
I think it was Sm mode copier >COUNTER>MISC>FIX-WEB.
The customer will get many paperjams but thats not your problem he wants it to be that way..
If tis possible flip the roller and preform clear.
But all silicone is gone so the lubricant issue is not solved and the roller will worn out qickly.
            Its the customers call..

              web

sounds to me like a pay me now or pay me later thing ... i'm curious though maybe you should have checked the web (look for the red stripe) 6 weeks ago

You have to reset the counter in counter/misc/web and then clear error in function mode. I would take the 85 for 2 minutes of work and run, especially if he's buying another machine from someone else

I wound up changing the web for $125. So it worked out okay. As far as not noticing a near end cleaning web 6 weeks ago I try not to do much more than what is called for at the time. if I am there for a quality problem and the customer needs a drum and i start looking for other things that need to be changed I could wind up with nothing.
Sometimes when you take things apart that you don't have to you get grief.Especially on older machines. Thank you for your guys. Frank
